This 3 part video series examines the importance of muscular relaxation in sprinting mechanics and force application. Once again, PJ Vazel uses his trove of published and unpublished research to look at the contribution of relaxation to sprint performance over various competitive distances. Inter-athlete differences in the ability to relax, percentage of FT/ST fibres and it's relation to the speed of muscular release, the positive and negative effects of weightlifting in regards to relaxation and the effects of recovery techniques to enhance relaxation are just some of the topics covered in this lecture. Any coach interested in speed development will want to watch this.
